Camshaft wear scratches
WebMar 27, 2015 · Nothing major, and I cleaned up the camshaft and the lobes are perfect as well as the journals. Just like a mirror. No pits, scratches, nothing. Also the bearing has no dents in it. I test-installed the new cam with oil on it, and it spins smooth by hand installed, no up and down play etc.

Do a visual inspection for signs of wear and put each one on a piece of plate glass and see if it rocks when you wobble it which would indicate the base is still convex. But, when you first start the engine they run unpressurized for a half a second or so. Eventually the bearings do wear out but it'll be over 100000 miles.
