WebJun 2, 2024 · Looking down the processes list, aside from a few active applications, most processes use only 0-5mb of memory, so even with a quick scan it doesn't seem to add up to the apparent 27gb usage, and 7gb seems much more reasonable. Even after restarting and closing all processes, there is about a 15-20 gb memory usage seemingly from nothing. WebSep 5, 2013 · It's using over 7 GB, and only 4.6 is free. That sounds like a big problem right? But it's not. Standby memory is reported as being used, but it's ready to be cleared out instantly if any process needs it. This gives you the best of both worlds: super caching (no slow disk reads), but also tons of memory that can be instantly freed up if needed.
